Abstract:

Introduction: This article's objective is to explain slip distribution on faults and understanding further the processes of earthquakes and fault slip, and how they are related. Yet, rare were the studies that tried to compare these slip distributions. Few studies did so, but mainly focused on characterizing the earthquake slip complexity. The overall slip distribution patterns were not considered. Hence, the questions related to the average shape of earthquake slip distributions are still opened. The profiles of maximum and mean slip that extracted from the models in this article allow total slip variations along both fault strike and dip to be studied. The general idea that followed is that analyzing many earthquakes together provides a way of smoothing their individual peculiarities (such as specific slip complexities), so that common, general properties, may emerge.Aim: The present study investigated characterizing average slip distributions on earthquakes beyond their individual heterogeneity. Methods: An auto correlation method was used to define an effective length at which zones of zero (or small) slip is not contributing, even when localized between slip patches. A collection of one-dimensional profiles was prepared, each is given as D(x) (D is displacement or slip; x is position along fault length or width). Hence, all profiles are mathematically comparable and can be analyzed similarly, with a general procedure. Results: While earthquakes are complex features with highly heterogeneous mechanical conditions on their planes (due to pre-stresses, static and dynamic stress loading/unloading by neighboring ruptures, host rock properties, etc…), they share some common, generic properties that appear when a large number of events are examined together: most produce triangular slip profiles (»70% are asymmetric) with well defined, long linear tapers. Triangular slip distributions on earthquake faults seem to be self-similar, suggesting that they attest to a scale-invariant mechanical behavior. Most slip profiles are asymmetric, suggesting different behaviors at the two edges of the major asperity. Conclusion: The maximum and mean slip profiles draw a triangular and asymmetric average curve, while three dominant degrees of asymmetry are revealed. The observation of triangular slip distributions therefore attests to a common, general property of faults, regardless of their scales and kinematics. The area broken during this “first stage” appears as the “major asperity” that shapes the total triangular slip distribution. Most of the moment is released by rupture of this area. This rupture produces dynamic stress overshoot in the surrounding fault plane. This overshoot makes some unfavorably stressed (or in inappropriate energetic conditions) portions of the fault plane in conditions to slip. The linear trends in the final slip profile are taken to be associated with the progressive dissipation of the energy provided by the dynamic rupture of the main asperity.

Statement of Problem: Zirconia has been introduced as an appropriate structure for fabricating metal free copings. A major advantage of such restorations is esthetic concerns; however, due to its high strength, zirconia can also be used in posterior areas. One of the recent methods of making these restorations is CAD/CAM machines.Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the fracture resistance of zirconia copings fabricated by two methods, CAD/CAM and slip casting.Materials and Method: 32 brass dies were fabricated for this study and divided into two groups of 16 dies each. Zirconia copings were made by CAD/CAM machine for one group and by slip casting method for the other. The copings were cemented to dies by a resin-modified glass ionomer (GC plus). A hardened steel ball with a diameter of 5 mm was used to apply the load to the copings in the long axis of the dies at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Then the amount of force needed to fracture each coping was recorded. Independent Sample T-test was used to compare the two groups. Results: The average of fracture resistance for the CAD/CAM group was 1411±424 N and for the slip cast group it was 1542±412 N, having no significant difference (p>0.05).Conclusion: Zirconia copings made by CAD/CAM and slip casting methods have no significant difference in fracture resistance.

Abstract:

One of the most significant operational aspects of vehicles is their safety in critical braking maneuvers. Proper braking performance occurs when the stopping distance is minimized while the vehicle’s steerability is maintained. To meet these objectives, the tire slip ratio should be regulated at its optimum value. In this study, a control system is designed for simultaneously controlling the brake torque of the front and rear wheels using the nonlinear prediction-based control method. In the control design process, the pitch dynamics have been considered which plays an important role in braking maneuvers. Moreover, the instantaneous optimum wheel slip is determined via an artificial neural network (ANN) to improve the performance of the system and achieve the maximum possible brake deceleration. The performance of the designed control system is investigated through conducted simulations in the CarSim and Matlab/Simulink software environments. The obtained results confirm the enhancement in the braking performance along with a considerable reduction in the stopping distance.

Abstract:

Introduction: Kitchen workers are in danger of slip accident because of slippery surfaces created by contaminants like grease, water and food material. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and slip risk assessment in cooking sites of Shiraz.Material and Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 322 cases from commercial kitchens in traditional and fast food restaurants, located in Shiraz, Iran, who was willing to cooperate in the project. (The total number of restaurants was 1303 cases. And simple random sampling method was used). The risk of slips was assessed using Slip Assessment Tool (SAT), developed by Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Prevalence of slip accidents was investigated using a questionnaire among kitchens staffs. Roughness coefficient was measured using Roughness Meter TQC-SP1560. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-22 software.Result: The level of slip risk was at moderate level in 47% of studied kitchens and others had low level of slip risk. Slip risk level in kitchens of traditional restaurants was significantly higher than fast foods. The average value of the measured surface roughness was obtained 4191.39 mm. The highest and lowest, respectively 4458.2 and 3977.3 mm were reported. The prevalence of slip accidents was reported to be 50.3%. Most of slip accidents was occurred in the kitchens, and when the floor was wet with water or contaminated with food products. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that due to differences in the type, method and time of food services and also workload of personnel, slip risk in kitchens of traditional restaurants was higher than fast foods. Approximately, in 50% of studied kitchens, the level of slip risk was assessed as moderate. Some basic interventions in spillage control and cleaning procedures, floor surface characteristics and using slip-resistant shoes are required to reduce the risk of slip in kitchens.

Abstract:

About two centuries after the appearance of Islam, the production of potteries were gradually changing through Islamic world. At eastern parts these changes were taking place coincident with Iranian movements and establishment of independent dynasties such as Tahirids and Samanids. The most important contribution of Samanid artists in Islamic pottery-making was the invention and completion of the Slip-painted wares. By means of such variety of decorative patterns like abstract, geometric, vegetarian & figurative patterns & calligraphy, this art not only affected from sasanian art, chinese and abbasid wares but also presented creative and artistic types during the history of Islamic pottery production. Archaeological evidence introduce Nishapur and Afrasiab (old Samarkand) as the main centers of the most interesting Slip-painted ceramics and also central Asia, Great Khurasan, sistan, parts of southern region of Caspian sea and Kirman as the area in which this kind of ceramics developed. This is obvious that development of Slip-painted potteries were in the lands which were under dominance of samanids; It means that the production of Slip-painted wares widespread from central and southern Iran eastward deep into central Asia and not considerably in central and western of Iran. Producing a large amount of these ceramics began during 9th century A.D (3th century A.H) and it reached its climax in 10th century A.D (4th century A.H). During 11th century A.D (5th century A.H) when the usage of alkaline glaze, Stone-paste for ceramic body were common and also the transmission of political, cultural and artistic centers from east to central parts of Iran, the production of Slip-painted potteries decreased qualitatively and restricted to regional centers and their production are forgotten gradually. This study is based on descriptive- analytical method and the gathering of data is done in the method of documentary & follow the purposes such as typology, Recognizing the widespread regions and accessing to definite dating for these kind of potteries.

Abstract:

A model suggests the current shear, which originated about 5 Ma ago, has been accommodated by strike-slip faulting within and along the margins of the Lut area. The measured Quaternary slip rate along the Nehbandan fault system to the east and the Nayband fault system to the west margins of the Lut area is ~ 5 and ~ 1.7±0.3 mm/year, respectively. Therefore, the observed slip rate is shown to increase from west to the east margin. This has resulted in the development of a dextral strike-slip shear system with heterogeneous slip rate across the Lut area. We have used satellite images, field observations, aeromagnetic data and analogue modeling to measure Cenozoic strain distribution and slip-rate changes in the Lut area. Results show direct linkage between deformation distribution and slip rate changes along the margins of the Lut area.

Abstract:

The present study has analyzed the Interpretation of female students towards hijab and covering. Participants, 30 students of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, were interviewed semi-structured by phenomenological and Targeted sampling of "maximum varietion" type. The phrases expressed by them were divided into 568 concepts, 44 categories and 9 themes. Examining people's life experiences, the findings were placed in three main axes: "slip towards hijab", "flexibility towards hijab" and "value towards hijab". The three themes inferred in the first axis included insightful knowledge slippage, emotional psychological slip and educational-cultural slip and the themes of the second axis were sociocultural flexibility and minimal belief in hijab. The value of insightful knowledge, legal religious value, sociocultural value and valuable factors of hijab were also discovered as the four themes of the third axis. One of the most important findings in the group of slipping work was the attempt to combine religiosity and chastity with the uncovering of the hijab, and the effect of some individual and objective experiences in choosing the full hijab. Also, suggestions were made by the participants to expand the hijab.

Abstract:

This paper considers the classical problem of the steady boundary layer flow past a semi-infinite flat plate first considered by Blasius in 1908 with generalized surface slip velocity. Numerical solutions are obtained by solving the nonlinear similarity equation using the bvp4c function from MATLAB for several values of the slip parameters.

Abstract:

Literature as mentioned in this article is a subsidiary of art, truth and beauty. This type of art in Iran and Persian culture has more interpretation to poetry. Literature like any other phenomenon has an origin that has been studied. The so-called blunder as particular theme about a hundred years ago in Freud's lecture as a theory was used. In this article, the author has tried to explain each of these two terms, between the two (literature and blunder) in terms of origin, both in terms of function and role, and they will find links theory and examples Literary objectively explain.
